The Origin of Broken Circuit Ranch
Twenty years ago, in an era where commercial wireless equipment was either nonexistent or prohibitively expensive, we set out to build what would become one of the largest Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs) in the nation. The problem? Off-the-shelf solutions simply didn’t exist. If we wanted a network, we had to build it ourselves.
With no purpose-built outdoor wireless radios available, we repurposed and modified existing hardware, pushing it beyond its intended capabilities. We designed custom enclosures, engineered durable coaxial installations, and built out wireless infrastructures from the ground up. We climbed mountaintops to erect towers where no infrastructure had existed before, connecting communities that had never seen broadband. It was raw, hands-on innovation—driven by necessity and executed with precision.
As our network grew, so did our expertise. When our company was acquired in a major merger, we turned our focus to custom hardware development, solving complex engineering challenges for clients across the globe. From RF communications to embedded systems, we provided tailored solutions for industries that needed something beyond off-the-shelf products.
That journey led us to Texas, where we planted our roots and founded Broken Circuit Ranch. After decades of building for others, we saw niche markets that lacked robust, reliable solutions—and we had the knowledge to create them.
Today, Broken Circuit Ranch specializes in Meshtastic-compatible microcontroller boards, RGB matrix display drivers, and cutting-edge engineering consulting. We don’t just sell products—we engineer solutions, born from real-world experience, field-tested under the harshest conditions. Every piece of hardware we create is backed by years of technical expertise, a deep understanding of RF systems, and a relentless pursuit of innovation.
From mountaintop towers to embedded systems, from makeshift solutions to market-leading products—our journey has always been about one thing: engineering beyond limitations. That’s what defines Broken Circuit Ranch.
Welcome to innovation. Welcome to resilience. Welcome to Broken Circuit Ranch.
